Social Media Marketing & Internet Marketing: Building Your Fan Club

When I was a kid, my pal Doug joined the Kiss Army. If you didn't grow up in the 70s and 80s, you might not know that the Kiss Army was the fan club for the rock and roll band Kiss.

If my memory serves me, he filled out an application and mailed it in with $5 or so and waited in anticipation for 4-6 weeks for his fan club packet to show up in his mailbox.

When he got it, it was full of all kinds of pictures and memorabilia.  Doug was just as excited to show us all his new fan club merchandise as we were to see it.

Today, anyone can have a fan club, not just rock stars.  You don't have to be an actor or famous person either. Just like rock stars work hard to create and share their songs, videos, pictures, blogs and articles, you can put out your ideas, insights and experience in many of those forms too.  If you do, then don't be surprised if you attract a crowd of people who appreciate you and your talents.

Here's the beauty of internet marketing. It won’t cost them $5 and they won’t have to wait 4-6 weeks to hear from you either.  Your fan club can connect with you quite easily if you just invite them to follow your social media accounts. All you need is an active social media presence in places like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook where you regularly share opinions and knowledge and respond to your fans‘ questions when they ask them.

Be helpful. Be nice. Be there, often. If you do, then watch your fan club online grow.
